Alx James was one of the biggest creators of Vine. After Vine refused to economically help its creators he moved to YouTube and garnered a huge following. Today he is a popular social media star on TikTok, Twitter and also has his own line of merchandise named Waterbug.

Remember Vine? For 3 years, this social media app provided creators with a 6-second platform to show their talent. It was a frenzy of humor, comedy, seriousness, and pure weirdness.

Early Life

Alx James was born on the 5^th of March 1995. He was born and raised in Wilson, North Carolina. Father Carlton Draughan and mother Sandra Ddaughanhad two other children: Adam and Dana.

Not much is known about his early life. However, looking at his videos, you can tell that he grew up in a religious family. In many of his YouTube videos, he has expressed that he is a devout Christian.

Similarly, not much is known about his educational background either. However, Alx himself has mentioned that he was selected for Junior Olympic Volleyball Team. But, instead, he chose to go ahead with an entertainment career.

Career

As mentioned earlier, Alx James was a hugely popular Vine Creator. But during the end days of Vine, when a rift between creators and the management broke out, Alx chose to get into YouTube.

Recently he has been pulled into a conflict with another YouTuber, Gabby Hanna. Alx had previously worked with Gabby, but their relationship started souring a year ago because of Gabby’s shady boyfriend, Curtis.

Alx also auditioned for the famous TV reality show American Idol twice in a row. Both times he was selected for the Hollywood round. But, unfortunately, he couldn’t participate further because he fell ill.

On being religious and gay

As mentioned earlier, Alx James is a devout Christian. However, in 2015, he came out and posted a video sharing that he is gay. The emotional video seen widely is almost 14 minutes long and seen more than a million times.

The video stated that his faith and religion stopped him from coming out earlier as it was seen as a sin. He also outlined how his relationship with his family has been rocky due to his sexuality. “I haven’t told my mum and dad that I love them. I haven’t talked properly to my siblings.”, the social media star said, barely holding back tears.

In a video posted to his YouTube Channel, Alx revealed that he has, in fact, dated a lot of men. But he never brought them out publicly because “It wasn’t worth it.”. He then brought out his new boyfriend to his YouTube channel.

His dating history has two prominent men. The first guy was a member of a band, and he and Alx got really close. But the guy turned out to be married, and thus, Alx went separate ways.

Alx then met Justin Edwards Hugh, who is also a social media star. They dated for a few years before they broke up recently. In a video posted on YouTube, Alx said he always felt as if he had some distance between him and Justin. Alx isn’t dating anyone nowadays.
