Refuses to believe that I have a subscription, even though it works fine on the iOS version. The Atlantic help desk is terrible, if it indeed exists; after many, many attempts to contact them with no response, I have given up. I'm probably going to end up unsubscribing because it's ridiculous that I can only read articles on one of my devices. (Please note this review is about the Android app and the Atlantic support team, not the publication itself, which is generally high quality journalism.)
These are some of the best articles I've ever read. the app has worked perfectly in my experience.
Awesome independent journalism!
I love the articles but I find plenty of them don't have a listen function which would be a huge improvement as well as a feature offered by the apps of other major news outlets
Nice to have info that you don't wonder if it's accurate or not. Up to date postings and very good writers. I have a subscription and it's one of my go to information sources.
great articles and interesting viewpoints make this a regular read for me
The thoughtful, in depth articles keep me informed and stimulates critical thinking.
The Atlantic speaks truth to the power, or at least the literate ones
The app is well-designed overall and the content is great. The only issue I have is that the Games section is crazy buggy. The tiles where you select a game are cut off as if they are scaled 2x so you can't even read the titles (no, my screen is not zoomed). Now, even when I go into a game — say, Brackets — the content is empty. In short, the app is flawless in terms of browsing and reading their wonderful articles, which is why I have this in the first place, but the Games section is unusable.
I LOVE the ability to listen to articles & that is amazingly executed with AI - but defects lay in the details. 1) Playback speed options of .5, 1.5 & 2X are absurd. While 5% adjustments are industry standard & 10% tolerable for COMFORTABLE listening, these half-speed adjustments are USELESS. (Even as people divide into 3 groups: minds wander so can't, close attention, & warp speed listeners) 2) Each article's Audm header & footer annoys. 3) Autoplay? I need to investigate "queue listens!"
