A giant suckfest. Stick to paper tickets. Guaranteed to fail you when need it, in typical LIRR style. Looks like the same sluggish code and vendor that NJ Transit is saddled with. The NJ Transit app barely works but at least it doesn't require the security code from your credit card be inputted separately for every single transaction. LIRR version doesn't have that "luxury" so make sure you either memorize it or have your card with you
The app works pretty well but treats you like a criminal if you don't activate your ticket ahead of time. I'll probably switch back to paper tickets. Don't need more harassment in my life.
they keep adding surcharges
The terms and conditions of this app is like behavior control. You can't purchase your tickets ahead of time. You have to purchase your ticket moments before you board the train. Otherwise you'll be flagged for violating the terms of use. This seems to only affect customers if you're buying a single-use ticket. Go online and look at the mountain of complaints and experience with this app. You're better of buying an actual ticket ahead of time. Uninstalling.
There is a 5 to infinite number of tries to actually redeem a free ride. The app is garbage.
WHY do I have to share my location just to BUY a ticket? (what if I'm in a different city/country at the time?) I shouldnt even have to share location when I activate a ticket. Just how much info is MTA gathering on my exact movements? Unnecessary...
Who thought vertical scrolling frames were a good idea? A constant map is pretty useless. If I wanted to look at the map, I'd choose to click on a map button. Not have it constatly displayed taking up half of the screen space that could be used to I don't know, show the station names in full? Just bizzare. Looks clean and works fine but that design choice alone makes it frustrating to read any information.
Get rid of the ridiculous, slimy, activation surcharge and I'll change my review
thieving scumbags. you pay and they still fine you. maybe if they did their job there would be no issues.
While I was initially excited to learn that there is an official MTA app which was introduced to help check real-time arrivals for subways and buses, and see service updates. I was disappointed to find that it currently only serves LIRR and Metro-North commuters. There are no options for local or express bus routes within Staten Island, Manhattan, or the other boroughs. Unfortunately, without support for the city’s bus network, this app isn't useful for my daily travel.
