Born on September 16, 1975, in Lagos, Nigeria, Toks Olagundoye is the daughter of a Nigerian father and a Norwegian mother. Her full name (birth name) is Olatokunbo Susan Olasobunmi Abeke Olagundoye.
During her childhood, the Nigerian native grew up in Nigeria, Switzerland, and England, attending schools in their respective countries. With support from her parents, she moved to the United States and enrolled at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. From there, Toks graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre.

In 2002, Toks Olagundoye made her acting debut through the TV series The Education of Max Bickford. The same year, she worked in the film Brown Sugar. After brief roles in Law & Order, Ugly Betty, CSI: NY, and NCIS, she got breakthrough as Jackie Joyner-Kersee in The Neighbors (2012-14). Then, Toks played Hayley Shipton in Castle (2015-16) and Kemi Talbot in Veep (2019).
After occasional voice-over in Steven Universe, Paranormal Action Squad, and American Dad!, Olagundoye voiced one of the main casts, Mrs. Beakley, in DuckTales (2017-2021). Her other credits as voice-actor are Carmen Sandiego (2019- 2021), Castlevania (2021), and This Duckburg Life (2021). Moreover, she has voiced in the games: Game of Thrones (2014) and Middle-earth: Shadow of War (2017).
